About artist: Potapov Oleg

Russian traditions school of realistic painting - you can see on perfect oil paintings by Potapov Oleg.

Artist born in 1962 in Chernyakhovsk Town of Kaliningrad Region. In 1982, he graduated from Ryazan Art College. In 1987, he started to take part in exhibitions. In 1989, he graduated from Moscow Printing Institute. In 1999, he joined Moscow Artists Union.

Oleg did not give up to the seduction to surprise the visitors with the challenging originality of his creative position. On the contrary, the emphasised objective and natural perception of reality is the major creative credo, which is confirmed by the author in his work without persistence but with quiet surety.

We see very few people in the landscapes of this artist. But they always show the works of good human hands. This is a village of strong Russian houses, chapel in the deep forest, and more often a bath house or boat at the lake. The artist himself looks at the world with the eyes of people living in these landscapes.

The most important thing in the works of Oleg is not the ethnographic interest or flash of emotions but his quiet meditation and thinking. In his simple plots and restricted colours of works by Oleg Potapov, we feel the hidden love to country life, harmony of human and environmental nature.

The artist filled his landscapes with the power of silence and quietness. This state of soul, where one would not like to hurry but to stop and think of eternity, is close and comprehensive for every sensitive visitor.

His paintings are held by the Russian Federation National Foundation, National Art Museums in Ryazan and Belgorod, as well as by galleries and private collections in more than ten countries of the world.
