About artist: Lipchen Hans (1933 – 1991) Hans Lipchen was the uncommon Dutch artist. His works were very popular in the early sixties the twentieth century. We represent the series of his unusual works in the mixed technics, tempera and gouache by motives of ancient engravings and etchings. In the young years Hans has been amazed by filigree accuracy and limiting laconicism of engravings by the best artists of last centuries. He has become successful in his work, subsequently having surpassed the great teachers of the past. He recovered ancient engravings in his works, bringing their expressiveness to perfection. The artist didn't copy favourite black-and-white graphic sheets, but he took inspiration of the epoch and images of that time from them, independently choosing plots of the pictures and recreating them in colour.
